Old Fashioned Room at Zeeuws Museum

The Old Fashioned Room is a modern reconstruction of the style room which was exhibited in the late 60s at the Zeeuws Museum. The room has three interactive elements dealing about the questions what is real and originally old fashioned from Walcheren (a part of Zeeland).
An interactive table, in which the visitor is asked for knowledge and experience regarding the collection items and to share it with the museum. A mirror which fits the clothes from the wardrobe virtually on the visitors. And a scale model of the room which record visitors. These recordings are projected in the room in a way like the droste effect in which the visitors get the feeling they are a part of a diorama. Exhibition is from 15 October 2011 till 26 February 2012. See more images and a compilation video here.

Interactive facade projection at the Culture Night Breda

During the Culture Night Rnul presented an interactive projection on the building of KOP in Breda. By a video tracking system the visitors were tracked in front of the building where they could discover and create a virtual layer of the building. With an individual corresponding pointer on the building visitors could activate elements in the building like growing an ivy, play with a cat and discover what happening behind the curtains. Together the visitors create a beautiful stately building, which over time will be abruptly disturbed by a randomly chosen visitor whose pointer turns into a shooting sight… Watch a video and images here.

‘Worldmusic exhibition arranged ingeniously’ by Yaël Vinckx

nrc-ma-8-dec-08.jpg

Part of an article about the Music in Motion exhibition at the National Museum of Ethnology:

English:
And the installations, made by Rnul Interactive, are very ingenious. In the Rio de Janeiro room the visitor stands on an interactive dance floor where he is given his own samba-rhythm: among others a timbal (a flat drum) and an agogo (a dubble cowbell). By walking, dancing and waving the visitor produces sound and forms an orchestra together with the other visitors on the dance floor. They see themselves projected on the wall, with a beautiful beach as a backdrop.

Night of the museums

rnul_museumnacht2.jpg

On March 1st, Rotterdam will have its seventh ‘night of the museums’.

The theme of this edition is ‘Set A Light’ and dares cultural institutions to invite the public to discover their treasures by dark. Rnul has been asked to be a part of this night. Rnul was (in association with Mothership) responsible for the opening act on the Kop van Zuid. Visitors can shine a light at the skyline of Rotterdam and discover (in an acoustic way) what happens behind the walls of the buildings.

Never Mind That Noise You Heard – Allora & Calzadilla

Allora & Calzadilla Wake Up Rnul collaborate with Allora & Calzadilla for the installation in the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam: Never Mind That Noise You Heard.

Opening: Thursday, February 7, 5 p.m.
Stedelijk Museum CS

Exhibition: 8.02.08 – 4.05.08

The central work will be a monumental installation entitled Wake Up (2007): a sound and light installation for which the artists asked trumpet players from around the world to interpret Reveille; the trumpet call that signals the start of the military day. These sonic re-workings open up the wake up call to other registers of meaning and associations. The recordings are linked to a series of speakers and lights embedded within the walls that divide the space, creating a visual/auditory experience.

Festival de Wereld van Witte de With

The festival “de Wereld van Witte de With” had the overall theme Heroes. In this installation the visitors get the head of a hero when they enter the room. The famous face digitally sticks to your body, so you are able to feel what it is like to have the face of your hero.

Test Lab V2_: Live Coding

For the upcoming Game/Jan theater project we work together with Carla Mulder (Lange Poten) and V2_lab to create a virtual 3d-space which is controllable by different techniques like movement and tracking. The projection will be stereoscopic, making the images really pop out of the screen and move right in front of you when you put on the special glasses.

Thursday 13 December the project will be presented during the Test_Lab evening in V2_.

FaceLift

FaceLift is an installation based on a view on the current reality in which things aren’t realistic unless they have undergone some plastic surgery like photoshopping an image. In this installation visitors will be recognized by face tracking and get a new face made of the faces of previously recorded visitors.

Urban Culture Experience, Jongeren en kunstperceptie
“Thou Shall not upgrade without a serious reflection on the downgrade of the past”
